Constructive website marketing and website development information

How many pages does your website need?

If you are in the process of creating or thinking about creating a website for your business then you will need to consider how many pages you are likely to need on it. There are websites out there with only one page and websites with over 10,000 pages – and many in-between. If you are looking at having an ecommerce website that sells a large number of products or services then you will probably end up with more pages due to your products each having their own page.

If you just want a website where you can put your contact details on and a brief few paragraphs of text to explain what you do, then you may be able to just have one page. The only down side with this is that it will be very hard to get ranked on the organic listings for your main keywords as there is simply not enough content.

Even if you start off with one page you should ensure that the site can be built upon to allow you to grow it in the near future. Most non-ecommerce websites have at least 5 or 6 pages which usually consist of a home page, about us page, services or products page, news and events and contact us page. Within the news and events or blog you can then create further pages to help boost your rankings on the search engines.
